Earlier this year, the Film Festival Collective was born when the Atlanta Film Festival joined forces with the Charleston International Film Festival, the Indie Memphis Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival to put official selections from each of their programs together in an On Demand channel, available for free to XFINITY subscribers in the Southeast.
Shortly after these four festivals started the party, South Carolina's Indie Grits Film Festival and Tennessee's Knoxville Film Festival jumped aboard. Now, we are pleased to announce three more partners—Homespun Series, Macon Film Festival and Out on Film.
Homespun Series showcases short documentaries about some of Metro Atlanta's most eccentric characters. The program launched in late 2013 and screens short, local films two to three times a year at Atlanta's historic Plaza Theatre.
The Macon Film Festival is middle Georgia's largest film festival and was launched in 2005. Next year, in line with its tenth anniversary, the Macon Film Festival will move from February to July, joining forces with the Bragg Jam Music, Arts and Kids Festival. Together, these two will form a ten-day film and music event in downtown Macon.
Out on Film, based in Atlanta, is one of the oldest and largest LGBT film festivals in the country. Created in 1987, Out on Film's goal is to inform, entertain, educate and enrich the regional LGBT community by recognizing the creative work of artists, many of whom are local.
Currently one film from Homespun Series ("Golden Child") and two from Out on Film ("Foremost in My Mind" and "More Than Ever") are available for you to watch On Demand! Additional films from these tests, as well as the Macon Film Festival, will be available next month.
Stay tuned for the announcement of more Film Festival Collective partners.
